Workforce Training Incentives
OWINN Blogs | 08/04/2018

Nevada employers are finding it increasingly difficult to find the number of qualified employees they need from the state’s workforce. As a result, employers often are forced to recruit experienced workers from out-of-state. In an effort to strengthen Nevada’s workforce and bring more jobs to the Silver State, several incentives now exist to help qualify more employees within the workforce, match employers with qualified workers, and to open/maintain businesses in the state.

One incentive program is the Train Employees Now (Ten) grant. This grant offers businesses up to $1000 per employee to provide them short-term, skills-based job training. Other incentives offered through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development can be found at the following website: http://www.diversifynevada.com/programs-resources/incentives

Silver State Works also offers a series of financial incentives for Nevada Employers to hire state qualified workers. One incentive allows an employer up to $200 per week per employee to offer up to twenty-four (24) hours of on-site training while still receiving unemployment insurance. A second tier offers to reimburse up to 50% of a new employee’s contracted wage up to 40 hours a week for the length of the training contract. The third tier offers a $2000 wage retention incentive for retaining qualified full-time employees under certain specifications.
