Internship Opportunities in Law Enforcement after High School
OWINN Blogs | 02/25/2018

During their time in the K-12 school system, most students are encouraged to make plans to attend a four-year university after graduation. In fact, there’s been such a push for four-year universities in the last decade or so that many students aren’t even aware that there are other options. Some of OWINN’s partners offer many amazing alternative programs to the fast-track to four-year route that allow students to gain knowledge, first-hand experience, and make professional connections after high-school or during their college careers. This allows young men and women to enter the workforce as better prepared and more competitive applicants.

One such program is the Law Enforcement Internship through the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR). This internship specifically targets at-risk youth over the age of 18, and even more specifically, those who would otherwise be unlikely to gain exposure to work in law enforcement. DETR provides funding, support, and guidelines/objectives to the employers that are selected for the program in order to ensure the best possible experience for both the intern and the employer.

Other opportunities include, but are not limited to:

Crime Scene Investigations, Cold Cases, Crime Analysis, Missing Persons, Violent Crimes, Theft Crimes, and Forensic Science Laboratory, Dispatcher Positions, and even internships with the FBI!
